Argentina | Brazil | Chile | Peru | Bolivia | Uruguay | Equador | Belize | Costa Rica

South America pulsates with a vibrant fusion of traditional and cutting-edge culture. While Buenos Aires is uniquely urbane with its southern European heritage, bohemian neighborhoods and the rippling essence of the tango, to the west and south, Patagonia and the rugged range of the Andes provide dramatic beauty, solitude and pristine lakes. A visit to an authentic estancia is a cultural must. A bit further west of this remote region and on the opposite side of the Andean divide stretches Chile with her fjords and vineyards. North of the cosmopolitan capital of Santiago and seaside cities of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, one finds the spectacular desert landscapes of the Atacama with its resident pink flamingoes.

Still to the north, Peru is home to the archaeological wonder of Machu Picchu and ancient Incan city of Cuzco. Lima's trendy sophistication and unsurpassed culinary scene are not to be missed. From Peru, the mighty Amazon flows to and through the massive country of Brazil whose resource-rich terrains and tropical eco-regions, indigenous peoples, colonial cities, expansive beaches and natural wonders like Iguassu Falls have given rise to Rio's sultry sound of the samba.

In our short summary, we shouldn’t fail to mention the pre-historic archipelago and living laboratory of the Galapagos Islands, and the pacific beauty and biological diversity of prosperous Costa Rica. Discover the high-spirited wonders of our immediate neighbors. These remarkable countries - on our doorstep – are only the tip of the iceberg!

Patagonian Perfection

Argentina, from Buenos Aires to Patagonia

EOLO - Patagonia's Spirit, El Calafate, Argentina

Salvatore Ferragamo's Route - Relais & Châteaux Ambassador

"Argentina is a country that I love. I was lucky enough to visit Argentina when I was younger and to experience life on a farm. This was a great introduction to the Argentine culture and way of life."

Days 1,2,3:  Algodon Mansion

The glamour of the Belle Epoque in Argentina; a crossroads where the best elements of past and present meet.

In the heart of Buenos Aires' elegant Recoleta neighbourhood, this hotel is undoubtedly the most beautiful in all Buenos Aires. Behind its French classical facade, the hotel is spacious, combining airiness with sleek modern lines. After a day exploring the town on foot, nothing beats a swim in the rooftop pool. In the evening, don’t miss the restaurant, where gastronomy and refinement go hand in hand. This is a real gem in one of the most pleasant capital cities in the world.

Cavas Wine Lodge Surrounded by fourteen hectares of vineyards, Cecilia Diaz Chuit and Martin Rigal’s estate is a veritable oasis devoted to wine. At the foot of the Andes, the architecture of the buildings is inspired by the colonial period. This is Mendoza, located in Argentina’s most beautiful wine-producing region, a landscape where nature offers us its very best. From your room, enjoy the view of the Malbec and Chardonnay vines which stretch as far as the eye can see. Between February and April, this landscape takes on all the colours of the palette…

And Las Balsas is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places to stay in this far-flung part of the world at the tip of the South American continent in the Villa La Angostura region. This romantic hotel with its blue facades offers a superb view of the magnificent lake and surrounding mountains. Take a romantic boat ride, venture out canoeing, or on horseback, or even just relax and be pampered in the soothing and revitalizing spa, overlooking the Lake Nahuel Huapi. The large rooms are reminiscent of the old Patagonian estancias. Here, the meaning of being in the middle of nowhere becomes completely clear. Unless we were quite simply at the beginning of the world?
