Discover Vietnam by Bicycle

Vietnam Biking

Vietnam's time has come — touted as the safest place in Asia, it is a phoenix in flight. Offering stunning landscapes from scenic rice paddies to the quiet jungles of the Mekong, this country showcases it all, while telling the story of its rich and complex history. It's a fascinating place to discover — and we'll take you straight to the heart of it.

Bike through the quiet tree-lined country paths, incredible beaches, banana plantations and thriving local markets. From north to south, Vietnam is a contrast of distinctly local cultures, and our local guides make sure you don’t miss a beat. In the Hoi An market, exploding with more produce than the mind can process, we wade into the crowds to barter and buy. On the backstreets near the Citadel, we bike with trusted friends. Then, in a private home, we sit down to dinner with royal descendants. And at the Six Senses Hideaway (luxury resort), our every whim is catered to with a smile.

Vietnam to Cambodia - Family Biking
Ride elephants through Angkor Wat, tour Hanoi’s Old Quarter, and bike along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Everywhere we go in Vietnam and Cambodia, we encounter children eager to make friends with the foreigners on the shiny bikes. That disarming friendliness permeates all aspects of life here, whether we’re riding elephants through Angkor Wat, touring Hanoi’s Old Quarter with a helpful guide, or stopping to chat with the townsfolk as we ride through the small villages along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

SAMPLE ITINERARY - EASYGOING TO MODERATE
This trip is rated Easygoing to Moderate. The daily distances for bike rides range from 12 to 31 miles. Some days offer longer/shorter option rides. The terrain is moderate on the first two days and then easygoing for the rest of the trip.

Day 1: Having explored Hanoi by cyclo, we head south for our first ride on the outskirts of Hue, pausing by the Japanese Bridge to have your fortune told.

Day 2: Board our private riverboat and cruise up the Perfume River to the tomb of Minh Mang. Dine tonight with Royal descendants in a wonderfully intimate setting.

Day 3: Having visited the Citadel and the Forbidden City, we make our way to Da Nang, cycling past rice paddies and war memorials.

Day 4: Pedal past local vegetable gardens and fish farms on the outskirts of Hoi An. Browse the markets of this UNESCO recognized town and pick up your new tailor-made clothes!

Day 5: Fly to Nha Trang and cross the Cai River, past temples, on our way back to the stunning coast. Sip champagne from the privacy of your boat-access-only beach villa as you take in an unforgettable sunset.

Day 6: Indulge in luxury at the Six Senses Spa (this is a vacation, remember). Take up the offer of a more challenging coastal ride before returning to the hotel for some beach time.

Day 7: Enjoy lunch today with a local friend of ours in rural Nha Trang, before heading on to the glitz that is Saigon.  Dine out this evening in the city that never sleeps.

Day 8: Take a private speedboat along the Mekong and explore the Cu Chi Tunnels, a visible reminder of the war. Embark on a stunning ride before heading back for cocktails and a final night party.

Day 9: Enjoy a farewell breakfast at the hotel and tam biêt in Ho Chi Minh City. Or continue your exploration of the region with our Cambodia Post-Trip.

Day 10: Arrive in Siem Reap and bike into the heart of the Cambodian countryside, finishing your ride at Tonle Sap for a lovely sunset boat ride on Asia’s largest lake.

Day 11: Discover the temples of Bayon and Angkor Wat with our local guide, arriving by traditional means — elephants, before hopping on our bikes to follow trails lined by a jungle of silk cotton and fig trees.

Day 12: Explore the wild jungle temple of Ta Prohm, and bike through the park, passing the temples of Bayon, Angkor Wat, the Elephant Terrace and the gates of Angkor Thom.

Day 13: Enjoy a final breakfast together at the hotel before saying farewell and meeting your international connections.
